What a lecture!

What a fascinating lecture we had tonight by the Garda Forensic Photographer. A very humorous and informative talk indeed.

Anyway, don’t forget we’re back again NEXT Monday, 2nd April for our next competition – just in case you thought we weren’t back for another two weeks.

The week after that is Easter weekend and the Balloon Fiesta takes place in Trim. To coincide with the Balloons there is also the Danny O’Brien Memorial Photowalk which will take place over two days, 7th & 8th April. As part of the photowalk there is a Photographic exhibition in the shop windows in Market Street featuring work from Danny himself and a number of other well known photographers, including some club members.

On Saturday evening there is a print auction taking place in Brogans Hotel at 6.30pm with all monies raised going to a local Trim charity, the RAY club. Again we have prints from some well known photographers including autographed photographs of famous musicians. There are a number of talks/workshops taking place in Porchfield on the Saturday and Sunday. Keep an eye on Photowalk.ie for updates.

Because the Balloon Fiesta is on over three days of the Easter Weekend we’re not going to organise a formal outing as people usually have family commitments on Bank Holiday weekends. However, feel free to come along on any or all of the days as it will be a fantastic spectacle, especially the Light Show on Saturday night after the print auction.

Club weekend away

We have a change of dates for our weekend away. Instead of the June Bank Holiday weekend we’re now going a week earlier. The hotels were too dear on the Bank Holiday and it didn’t suit a lot of people. We now have the Hotel Saltees in Kilmore Quay booked for the weekend 25th to 27th May. The cost is €80 per person for two nights B&B and anyone wishing to go must bring €20 deposit next Monday night. We plan on doing a trip to the Saltee Islands on the Saturday so there will be the additional cost for that.

So our next official outing will be to whatever Paddy’s Day parade you want to go to. The one in Navan starts around 4.30 so if you’re coming to this one, we’ll meet up in the markets (Dunne’s Car Park) at 2.00pm. Lots to shoot before the parade starts. However if you want to go to your own local parade, that’s good too. As long as you have a shot for our next competition.

Exhibition time again

Don’t forget to bring your prints along tonight to be included in our annual exhibition next month.

Peter Fitzsimons from Trim is a film specialist and he runs various workshops geared towards film but still applicable to digital. He also does quite a lot of IR photography which is a fascinating field in it’s own right.  He has a few upcoming events which may interest some of you. If you don’t get to take part in any of his workshops, don’t worry he’ll also be giving us a lecture next year……..
